Only blog (category_id) and old_blog (category, a string) reference categories.

Names that drive template selection

blog_builder switches article templates on the category name. Any other (or missing) name falls back to the generic template.

For originally written blogs, blog_generation automatically links the category "レース結果・回顧" for recaps and "レース予想・検証" for predictions, when such a category record exists.
