Overview
Databricks Apps Survey Analysis โ an internal application that visualizes pre-aggregated survey views stored in Unity Catalog, letting users pick a table and a question from the browser.
It runs as a single process (uvicorn) on Databricks Apps, where FastAPI serves both the API and the React SPA.
Problem (Why)
Not documented โ no written problem statement exists in the repository.
Based on what the implementation shows, the intent appears to be resolving the following:
- Viewing aggregation results requires writing SQL against the SQL Warehouse, so non-engineers cannot access survey results.
- Multiple-choice and free-text questions need different presentations, yet the only option is to stare at the same tabular output.
The formal problem statement should be agreed with the PO and this section updated accordingly.
Target Users
| User Group | Description |
|---|---|
| Survey result viewers | Internal members who access the app through Databricks Apps to review aggregation results |
| Developers | Members responsible for implementing and deploying the app |
Out of Scope
- The aggregation itself. The app only reads views already produced by pipelines on the Databricks side; it holds no aggregation logic.
- Creating, editing, or deleting response data. The app is read-only.
- App-specific authentication and authorization. Access control is delegated to Databricks Apps and service principal permissions.
- Switching comparison axes. Queries are fixed to
is_comp = 'ใในใฆใฎๆๅนๅ็ญ'; attribute-based comparison views are not implemented. - Switching catalog and schema. The frontend hardcodes
cs/cs_dm(only the table is selectable in the UI).
